Happy Easter!

There was sunshine and smiles at our Easter Fair at Gregson Green Community Centre on Easter Saturday, 16 April 2022. The event was organised by Stanley Grange Community Association with support from the Stanley Grange Friends and Family Forum who represent the relatives of the people we support who live at Stanley Grange. Staff from Future Directions CIC supported people to make cakes and attend the event which attracted hundreds of families over 4 hours.

Stalls included plants, cakes, a chocolate tombola and bric a brac. There were also interactive activities such as sunflower seed planting and Easter egg painting. There was a LEGO display of Jerusalem and the Easter story, a LEGO building corner and mascots. There was a special appearance by Debra the Donkey which was an art project by St Joseph’s RC School, Brindle. More than £1000 was taken on the day. Profits will go to the community allotments, ‘Plant to Plate’ project which is being filmed by Channel 4 this month.

Operations and Project Manager, Harriet Roberts said, ‘It made us feel quite emotional to see the number of people from the community come out in force to support Stanley Grange. It’s been such a long time since we’ve been able to hold events like this and our neighbours and friends have not disappeared. We look forward to our next event and joining in with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend activities at Gregson Green.
