sunshine and smiles as activities return to stanley grange community hall

Craft and cookery activities resumed on Friday 23 July as part of work being led by Kevin Phoenix, Future Directions’ Activities Coordinator (pictured below), funded by National Lottery. We’ve been working with a team of residents, staff and trustee volunteers to tidy up the community hall, transforming it into The Butterfly House for butterfly banner making, face painting and decorations. Groups from each of the houses took part in the drop in distanced in their social bubbles for social and creative sessions and enjoyed squash and delicious cupcakes from the fantastic, newly renovated kitchen.

Eight new metal lockable cupboards have been rescued from landfill and donated courtesy of Imperial College London through the Warp-It scheme:https://www.warp-it.co.uk/  The cupboards have been covered in magnetic butterflies and filled with an abundance of arts and crafts materials and equipment available to the houses through the week and for facilitated regular sessions. Butterfly mobiles were hung from the windows and danced in the welcome breeze on a particularly hot day! Even the Covid visiting pod had a makeover!

There’s always a party atmosphere on a Friday as Stanley Grange is the home of Funtime Fridays when Kevin and the team broadcast lively entertainment to the whole of the Future Directions network and the rest of the world on Facebook Live.
